I have had this for years in a box I was going through and decided to clean it up a little and was happy about that! This is a 1940's Stuart Nye Pansie Brooch that he put a patten on in the 30's (it is on the back, very hard to see) so that it protected his piece until the 1940's when he released it. His mark is also on the piece, 3 1/2" by 1", rollover functioning clasp, great patina, silver stems, reclaimed copper flowers. These were all handmade in Asheville NC USA, and all of his creations are native nature themed items from his area. If you love pansies as much as I do this is a great brooch to wear on a lapel, hat, scarf, add to a necklace as a pendant.....on and on! Great affordable gift for that vintage jewelry lover!

~ Stuart Nye was a WW1 veteran and was in construction and started to dabble in wrought handmade jewelry. He was in business from 1933 to 2024 and his dogwood and pansies are the most recognized motifs of North Carolina, wow that is inspiring!
