Vintage Indian woman, Hand painted on paper Pendant, Symbol of Beauty.

When I found this piece, I knew it was kind of special and hard to find. I researched the internet and found nothing like this anywhere. What I do know is that people from India would do these pieces on bone and paper which this is and were sold as souvenirs for the tourists. This one is enclosed in glass, with a silver pendant surrounding it, 1 3/4" by 1 1/2", a backside view of a woman with a long braid with gorgeous trims to her hair and gold trimmed around the image. These are hand painted which again is amazing for this small of a print. These were a reoccurring symbol of a symbol of beauty, femineity, and cultural identity in a time when women were not respected. This is a small piece of jewelry but a big symbol of woman's fight for equally in India, amazing just showing a beautiful braid of hair. Just Amazing!
