Vintage Eggert Flora Danica Denmark Botanical Brooch, Sterling Silver with Gold Gilt.

This is an amazing jewelry company and known for its botanical inspirations. Founded in 1953 in Denmark this company had very unique casting techniques which transformed a living plant into handcrafted pieces. Not really sure what plant this one may be, it could be a berry, I could not find another one on the internet?? It is sterling silver with gold gilt overlaying that, 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" functioning roll over clasp, 1960's era, great patina but could clean up nicely if you prefer, stamped Flora Danica Sterling 925 Eggert Denmark. Great Gift for that nature lover who loves vintage jewelry.

~ They used freshly picked plants or leaves then coated with silver or gold then electroplated and made an exact copy of the living plant. This was an innovative casting technique and quickly became very popular in the European jewelry market. AMAZING!!
